Where the full game puts it
NPC Tips says the prison key shares a chest with a club, in the room behind the iron-key door, close to the large furnace and the jaguar door. It opens the prison door. Past that door is a camp, more cells, and new tools.
The chain in front of that chest is: a full stomach, the small key, the hammer, the iron key, then a second key cast at the furnace for the corridor that holds the jaguar door. Some keys and chests are shuffled. An empty chest means check the neighboring room, which the developer has said about randomized keys and treasures.
A door inside the prison
A 15 October 2026 Steam post describes a broken lever that wants an iron rod, plus a chain, on a prison door. That is a player report, not a file line. Patch 1.0.47.0 does not mention this lever.
