Golden chest

I will not publish a six-item shopping list. Steam and Reddit agree the chest is part of the secret ending and that it takes six gold items. They do not agree on, or even finish, the names. An empty chest has also been reported, and NPC Tips left that as an open bug question.
Two chains that might be one
Chain A: put six gold items in the golden chest. Chain B, from the true-ending posts: return the treasures named by achievements to their places. Bird statues go back to the nest. Other statues do not all have to move. Then the eel boss’s empty room grows a hidden control room, and the terminal command is shutdown after the left switch.
Whether the chest is required for that room is not settled in the posts I read. The ending page keeps the terminal steps. This page stays on the chest so the two searches do not merge into one thin answer.
- Pick up gold-colored items when you see them. Do not sell or scrap them. There is no published list of the six.
- If the chest is empty, check the neighboring rooms. Some keys and treasures are offset, and an empty gold chest is an open bug report, not a solved skip.
- Return the bird statues to the nest even if you are still filling the chest. That step belongs to the 22-treasure route.
- After the eel boss, look in the empty room for the hidden control room. The terminal command players used is shutdown, after the left switch.
