Cooking pot dishes
Checked 2026-10-16. Steam build 25955406. Patch 1.0.47.0.
People search “how to light the cooking pot” and the pages that rank often skip the dish. I checked the queen-door file notes and the bat-room player post. Both care about what is in the pot, not a hidden flint minigame. If a pot in your world will not start, I do not have an official light-it step to add. I will not invent a torch swing.
Build it, then fill it
The cooking pot recipe in the item notes is 3 iron rods. NPC Tips lists these pot rules for the queen door: cooked vegetables are two or three vegetables; bean soup is two or three black beans and nothing else; stew is a vegetable plus meat or another protein. Order on the table does not matter.
Players at the bat-room gold door plated meat plus pepper, corn plus tomato plus pepper, and bean soup. Herbs are allowed to adjust a dish, which is why pepper can sit on top of the file recipe without contradicting it. The single harpy bowl wants deep dish pizza, and the floor drawing shows corn, tomato, and cheese. That bowl is not a cooking-pot door. I keep it on the table-slots page.
| Dish | File notes | Bat-room plate that still fits |
|---|---|---|
| Cooked vegetables | 2 or 3 vegetables | Corn, tomato, and pepper |
| Bean soup | 2 or 3 black beans, nothing else | Same soup, no extra herb |
| Stew | A vegetable plus meat or protein | Meat plus pepper |
About “lighting” the pot
I could not find a published flint, torch, or fire-starting step for this station. The official Camp & Cooking trailer shows a pot over a camp fire, which is a different prop from the crafted 3-rod pot. If your crafted pot will not accept food, the checks that are documented are: you own the station, the recipe has unlocked from a pickup, and the bowl is only beans when the door asked for bean soup.
Dev Blog #5 names the ingredients the kitchen is built around: apple, meat, mushrooms, corn, cassava, tomato, beans, and cilantro. It also names dishes the team cooked in development, including shepherd’s pie, meat and mushroom stew, ramen, pastel, and cassava fritters. Those names are not full recipes. I am not filling in amounts the blog never gave.
