Table slots and food doors
Checked 2026-10-16. Steam build 25955406. Patch 1.0.47.0.
I retitled this in my notes as “what goes on the table,” because that is the question in the threads. Sorting boxes came up in the same week and the developer said they only hold objects. Putting a stew in a sorting box will not open the queen’s door.
Three tables
Queen’s door: three table slots, cooked vegetables, bean soup, and stew, any order. NPC Tips marks this as file-derived. The bat-room gold door, from a true-ending player post: three plates, meat stew (meat and pepper), vegetable stew (corn, tomato, pepper), and bean soup (two black beans). They say a glowing mushroom in the room above reveals the clue.
The harpy room’s single bowl wants deep dish pizza. The floor at the entrance draws corn, tomato, and cheese. I have not confirmed that this bowl is the same object as the offering plate in the file notes.
| Place | How many | What to set down |
|---|---|---|
| Queen’s door | 3 slots, any order | Cooked vegetables, bean soup, stew |
| Bat-room gold door | 3 plates | Meat and pepper, corn tomato pepper, bean soup |
| Harpy room | 1 bowl | Deep dish pizza. Floor draws corn, tomato, cheese |
| Sorting box | Storage only | Not a puzzle. Developer said it just holds items |
How I tell a wrong dish from a wrong door
Bean soup fails if you add anything besides two or three black beans. Stew fails if it is only vegetables. The queen’s door does not care about left-to-right order. If all three plates are correct and the door stays shut, you may be at the bat-room table, which wants the pepper variants, or at the harpy bowl, which wants pizza. Cooking steps live on the cooking-pot page so this one can stay about placement.
Questions
What are sorting boxes for?
The developer said they physically store items and have no other use.
